This week I thought we'd take a look at some of the crystals and stones that I have recently acquired. I'll take you through my selection process and how I use them in my life.
I suppose there are no words I say that could instill more concern in my husband than these: "Honey... I'm off to the Gem Show!"
Ka ching... :)
I jest. My husband was right there along with me at the gem show last weekend. And we came home with some wonderful stones.
How I choose 'em:
I never "know" what it is that I am looking for when I attend a gem & mineral show. I have learned that I don't choose the stones, they choose me. I simply cooperate and allow them to come into my life!
When I get to the show it is very tempting to just dive in and start shopping. I am overwhelmed with all the selection and have a tendency to fall in love with everything I see. But this isn't good for my wallet and it has seen me in the past spending my total budget then having to walk away from a rock or two that really calls me because I've run out of money.
So I have learned to pace myself.
I begin by briefly tuning in and asking that I be connected with the stones that will serve me for the highest and best good on my path at the current time. I walk the show visiting each vendor checking out what they had to offer. An important part of my process is feeling out the vendors, too. I prefer to make purchases from people with whom I share an energetic resonance. I enjoy dealing with vendors who are positive, open, knowledgable and willing to talk about their process and share what they know about their offerings. It's important to me because they have chosen, handled and cared for the goods. I want to feel good about who I deal with.
My next step is to spend time around the tables of the vendors that I did feel a resonance with and noticing what I'm feeling pulled towards and drawn to... or not.
Then comes the hardest part: walking out of the show and going home without making a single purchase.
This gives me an opportunity to just be with my experience, seeing what stones continue to resonate and what stones simply drop off my radar altogether. The next day I go back to make my selections.
But Clare, (you might be asking), aren't you afraid that stones you had resonated with might not be there when you go back for them?
And my answer is, well, not afraid, but certainly aware that is a possibility. But I am also clear that if a certain stone is not there when I go back then it wasn't meant to be with me at this time.
This happened with only one stone that I had a strong resonance with. It was gone the next day. However, I had the lovely experience of being connected with a new stone that chose me on that second go-back visit that I have hardly been able to put down.
So here are a series of pictures of the stones that chose me with a brief description underneath:
This past year for me has been an incredible time of further deepening my connection with the earth. This theme has continued with the pieces I have chosen. I mean that chose me! ;) I had no connection nor resonance with any of the jewelry pieces, cabochons and finished pieces this time around. It was the rough, rugged, beautiful pieces that called to me.
I have also been doing a great deal of Solar Plexus, Heart Chakra and Throat Chakra work since last December. These stones will help to beautifully support that work. I didn't fully realize this aspect until I got everything home and began holding them and placing them in my space. Because I wasn't thinking about which stones I was going to buy but rather was allowing the ones most important to me at this point to choose me, I was very interested to make this realization.
Another important part of my process is that I further investigate and research the stones I have purchased. Not all vendors are really clear about what they have and what they are selling you. In fact, having had a gemstone jewelry design business of my own for six years I found myself informing a few of the vendors as to what some of their pieces actually were (as opposed to what they thought they were).
So I don't just take in what they are telling me hook, line & sinker. I research for myself. I encourage you to do this for yourself when you are acquiring your own gemstones.
This happened to me with two pieces of Adamite that I was told were Calcite pieces. This did not sit right with me so I empowered myself and researched the pieces only to discover that they were not Calcite, but were actually Adamite. I'm a still unsure on a couple of the other pieces. I have learned that Adamite and Calcite tend to form together. And I trust that if it is important for me to know the answer will come. In the meantime I just enjoy the energies of these stones!
How I use 'em:
I am using my stones in a number of ways.
The piece of yellow Adamite in the last picture is the stone I feel the greatest resonance with. I can hardly put it down! Its energy feels light and joyful to me. It also has a healing quality and I feel deeply connected to my inner knowing when I hold it. It has wonderful natural grooves in it that allows it to sit perfectly in my left hand - as if it was made for me. I hold it while I meditate. I hold it over my solar plexus chakra while lying down. I keep it close by and even hold it while I'm having my cup of tea in the morning! I'm enjoying this piece very much!
The large piece of Selenite sits on my desk right next to my computer because it is a natural EMF absorber. I keep the Brazilian Quartz piece next to me bed to cleanse and clear my sleeping space. It has a wonderful "even" feeling energy that meshes well with being in my resting space.
The rest of the stones pictured above have been sprinkled throughout my home, some sitting next to me in a lovely bowl in my office and some in other areas of the house where they can bring healing and balance.
The exceptional piece of pink Adamite in pictures 6 and 7 has a place of honor in our living room where both my husband and I can enjoy it. In addition to being a kick ass piece, it also has a lovely soft heart energy and what I experience as a kind and playful spirit.
The key to working with your stones is to get to know them by researching their qualities, holding them, meditating with them and, most importantly sensing for yourself how they feel and present themselves to you. Allow them to show you where they need to be placed in your home and space and where they would like to be held while you meditate with them. Create a relationship with your stones!
So that's my recent adventure with the crystals and stones currently rockin' my world!
