What This Spirit Guide Thing is Really All About...
For this series of blog posts I interviewed the guide with whom I have the closest connection on my guide team, Monika.
This is truly straight talk from a spirit guide!
Monika is my main teacher guide and has been with me since I was in high school. I became aware of her presence around me about eight years ago when I decided to develop my mediumship abilities in earnest.
Monika talked with me about Spirit guides from a number of different perspectives: who they are; how they help us in our lives; what they do to help us in our work as spirit communicators; how they play a part in our mediumship development.
My interview with Monika happened over a period of about five days and I asked her many questions. She had a lot to say! I learned so much from her - things that I did not know about spirit guides before talking with her specifically about them. I hope you do, too.
I have broken our conversation down into several parts to make it easier to read and digest.
In today's post Monika gives us a general overview of our spirit guides.
I hope you enjoy these interviews with Monika.
Clare: Thanks for being here and answering my questions, Monika.
Monika: You're welcome, Clare. I was right here anyway and I'm always only a thought away.
Clare: I'm writing a series of blog articles on spirit guides with an emphasis on how our guides help us as mediums. Can you introduce us to the ins and outs to spirit guides and mediumship.
Monika: I sure can. First I'll give you the general lay of the land, by way of an introduction to the spirit guide world.
Each of you has a band of guides. I know you refer to your band as a your team, Clare. The term team works too, because each of your spirit guides has both his or her own work to do with you and they work together as if they are a member of a team, too.
The number of spirit guides in anyone's team is usually between four and seven at any given time and varies from person to person, depending on what the individual is working on or doing in his or her life at the current time and what they have come into the physical world to do or accomplish.
Everyone has a Master or main guide, who is with you for your entire physical life on earth, from birth to your transition. Your master guide is responsible for choosing all the other guides who are or will be on your team. Your master decides what types of guides you are going to need in any given situation and then finds the right guides to fulfill those duties for you.
This is the reason that the Master guide is often referred to as the "Gatekeeper". He or she is the only guide who can let other guides into your sphere of influence. All have to go through your Master guide first.
Clare: So with the exception of our Master guide, most of our other spirit guides come and go as we need them in our lives?
Monika: Yes, that's right. Some of those guides stay for a longer time, some for a shorter time. Some will stay with you for your entire life if that is what is required.
All have a specific reason for being in your life at any given time and are chosen according to their specific areas of expertise and their ability to serve you on your path, with their particular knowledge and skill set.
All of the other guides on your team report directly to your Master guide, because he's the boss, to use a physical world term that best describes the place your master guide holds in your band or guide team. He can also be a she, which is to say that master guides are not only male, they can also be female.
The rest of your guide team is made up of a teacher guide or two, (sometimes even three...), a joy guide, a protector, and a healer, sometimes referred to as a chemist.
Then there are your runner guides, who come and go very quickly serving you in the moment rather than in a long term abiding capacity.
Clare: Is what you've just described the same for those of us who are mediums or are developing our mediumship gifts?
Monika: Yes, everything is basically the same.
However, when you start on your mediumship journey new guides are added to your guide team and / or guides that are already with you might be given slightly different roles and duties in order to better serve your development as a medium. It is usually a combination of these two.
Clare: So you are saying that there are guides that are already with us helping us on our path may stay with us but change or add to his or her duties when we start to develop as mediums?
Monika: Yes, that is what I am saying. If a current guide has really good knowledge or expertise in the particular area that you are moving into pursuing, he or she may be instructed by your master guide to begin serving your path by guiding you in your new capacity.
Clare: Can you give me an example of one of those guides on my guide team?
Monika: Yes, Clare, I am actually one of those guides for you. I came to you when you were in high school. You were starting to show signs of wanting to deepen your spiritual growth. Remember when you were seriously contemplating becoming a nun?
You were also having painful migraine headaches at that time, which, unbeknownst to you, were a physical side effect of powerful surges of higher energy being channeled through your third eye. You could very well have been headed on the path to mediumship at that point in your life, but you weren't ready or grounded enough yet to fully accept spirit's request of you at that time.
I was chosen by your master guide, Joachim, because of your interest, or calling, as it were, to serve as a nun. I was brought in to oversee your learning at this particular time because I was a cloistered nun in my last physical incarnation on earth. So I deeply understand that particular path and have special skills that I could use to help you with your development should you have chosen to be a nun.
I continued to guide you even though you chose not to go into the convent, overseeing your spiritual growth, guiding you towards the materials and experiences that would deepen your growth.
Later when you finally decided to go ahead and develop your mediumship skills your master guide asked me to stay on because I was also a medium in my last physical incarnation (in addition to being a nun). So, again, I had the right skill set and experience to be able to guide and teach you on that path, too.
I suppose you could say that I had "transferable skills"!
Clare: Yes... transferable skills. I like that!
So you were originally chosen because I was seriously considering becoming a nun, then got to stay even though I did not go that route and, instead chose to develop as a medium. I am glad you got to stay!
Monika: I'm glad I got to stay, too!
Yes, I was originally brought into your band because you were showing strong signs of being on the verge of choosing one of several possible paths that your soul was interested in pursuing in this lifetime, that being serving others as a cloistered nun and I could definitely help guide you with that.
Clare: What do you mean when you say "one of several possible paths"? Do you mean that I had more than one path in mind when I incarnated in this lifetime?
I thought we all essentially have only one path to pursue and it is your job as spirit guides to do all you can do to keep us aligned with that particular path.
Monika: Actually nothing could be further from the truth.
It is true that everyone has one primary goal that you bring into every lifetime you experience on earth. That goal is to expand and deepen your growth and evolution as a spiritual being.
However, you each bring a number of different possible path preferences or options for how you will try to accomplish your soul growth goals in your lifetime.
So, for example, if your soul has chosen to evolve in the area of self love this time around and wants to do that in a way that offers a great deal of solitude, your soul may choose several possible paths such as being a cloistered monk or nun, being a solitary commercial fisherman, spending time in a prison, working in a remote area of the world, or traveling for many years on one's own, to name only a few.
And it is quite possible that you could pursue more than one of those paths during your lifetime. You are not limited to one. For example you could be a solitary fisherman who becomes a monk, or a nun who end's up in prison for some reason.
Before incarnating your soul meets with your Master guide for this life to inform him or her of your path preferences for your soul's growth and learning. Your Master guide then becomes responsible for bringing to you the guides that will help point you in the directions of your chosen paths, then, when you take one or more of those up, to guide and teach you in those areas.
Clare: So I let my master guide know that I wanted to be a nun and a medium? Anything else?
Monika: Yes, you did. Though you showed the interest and serious consideration you eventually chose not to become a nun and took up several other of your pre-chosen paths as a wife, mother, career woman and business owner, before choosing to walk the path as a spirit medium. You also had other paths of interest that you did not ultimately choose to follow. You dabbled, but didn't take them on full swing, so to speak.
It is this way for everyone. Nothing you ever do here on earth is a waste of your time or resources.
I know that many feel at some point or another in their lives that they are not on the "right path", but that is just not true. Each has chosen at any particular time in his or her life exactly what they are doing at that point in time. What you are doing can absolutely change into doing something else, like in your life, Clare, when you decided to leave your store behind and pursue serving others as a medium and a teacher. Or when you chose not to be a nun, but rather a mother instead. But just because it changes doesn't mean that what you were doing before wasn't a totally chosen and a completely valid part of your path.
Does all of that make sense?
Clare: Yes, I think it does. I'm a little surprised as many of us seem to think that our guides are here to keep us on the straight and narrow, or a "good" path and that if we're not doing that we are not following our guides' guidance or advice.
Monika: Yes, that seems to be the prevailing view point on what spirit guides are supposed to do.
Here are some important things for you all to know about your spirit guides:
Your guides love you. They are always coming from the vibration of love in their guidance of you. They are, however, neutral. They do not hold the opinion that one choice is good and one choice is bad, then try to keep you from the 'bad' choice. They see all your choices as viable and good for your growth.
They simply do their best to guide you as per your instructions prior to being born into the physical world. If you have informed your master guide of a strong preference for a more "severe" form of solitude such as spending time in a prison in order to evolve your soul, then they will do what they can to bring that about for you.
They do not make value judgements around your choices, they simply do their best to facilitate those choices with and for you. It is only on the earth plane that our egos make value judgements around the different possible paths that one could take, seeing some paths as better than others.
This kind of value judgement does not go on in the spirit guide realm.
And at the soul level you are totally "on-board" with all of your choices.
However your guides are responsive to your needs and requests of them. So, if you decided that you would like to change or shift out what you perceive as a not so great life situation that you are currently in for a better one they will absolutely help you do that. They will do whatever they can to point you in a different direction. It is simply up to you to ask, then listen and respond to their guidance. That's the key. We'll talk more about that as we go on.
Does that help?
Clare: Yes, that helps a great deal. It takes a great deal of pressure off!
Yes, you lovely humans are really good at putting the pressure on yourselves and seeing what is really great beauty in your lives through a negative lens rather than a positive one.
All paths are beautiful, worthy and hold great potential for learning and soul growth.
Clare: Thank you Monika. That is a lot of wonderful information.
Let's end things here for today's blog post.
Monika: You're always welcome, Clare.
