Developing your psychic and mediumship abilities takes patience and focus. Oh... and practice.
Practice makes your psychic & mediumship muscles stronger.
But we all have only so much time in a day. So when do we fit in all this practice?
I have found that breaking psychic practices down into simple, manageable (bite sized!) pieces works really well for me.
There are lots of little things that you can do in your day to help you keep your psychic medium muscles strong and supple.
Here are four simple daily practices that I highly recommend:
1. Be in quiet...
"A wise old owl sat in an oak
The more he saw the less he spoke
The less he spoke the more he heard
Why can't I be like that wise old bird?"

When you go for a run do you feel naked without your iPod earbuds in your ears?
When you are driving do you have talk radio on or music playing?
Do you generally feel the need to fill the quiet space around you with some kind of sound?
Back in 2007 I turned off the radio in my car. And I never turned it back on. I have driven thousands of miles in total silence. Driving has become a wonderful opportunity for me to practice being in quiet.
I have received many an intuitive flash while driving in silence.
I've even been a chauffeur to spirits who wanted to send a message to a loved one. (more on this in an upcoming post!)
So much of what we do as psychic mediums requires us to get into a place of mental quiet. That's one of the reasons that we meditate.
So it behooves us to get used to just being quiet. No bells, no whistles, just quiet.
I guarantee that if you get comfortable with being quiet you are doing wonders for your psychic muscles. And your connection with spirit.
Rather than trying to fill up every potentially quiet space with conversation, or music, or whatever, make a point of making at least one of the activities in your day something you do in quiet.
Taking a bus ride? Do it in silence. Simply sit, listen, observe, feel into the space.
Preparing a meal? Do it in silence.
Turn off the radio in the car and drive in the silence.
Leave your iPod at home when you go for you run. Take your run in silence.
Cozy up to the sound of silence.
2. Go with the flow
When an urge hits you to take a certain action or do a certain thing go ahead and do it.
When this happens it is your subconscious trying to get through. Your inner voice is speaking with you. Your intuition is knocking!
The more you trust that voice within instead of letting external influences (the needs of others for example) dictate your movements and choices, the more you tune into the voice of your own intuition, the more your develop your psychic muscles.
Yup. S'true. :)
So allow yourself to go with the flow at least once a day.
3. Inspirational writing
Give your imagination total control for 10 minutes each day. Let it speak to you through inspirational writing.
Here's how you do that:
Many famous authors, the likes of Mary Shelly (author of Frankenstein) included have allowed themselves to let their imaginations take over and flow with inspirational writing. That's how their stories were born!
Your goal (if there is one at all) is simply to relax and let your imagination take over and inspire you.
Have fun conducting little psychic experiments of your own and keep track of your results in a journal.
Here is one example of how to do this:
Just before going to bed at night take a moment to visualize in your mind something that you will be doing or a place that you will be visiting the next day.
Let's say you will be going to lunch with a friend and will be eating in a restaurant you have not previously visited. Imagine yourself at that lunch before going to sleep. Take in the scene in your mind’s eye and notice details such as:
Who is around you?
Who is at your table?
What is the server wearing?
What do you see when you look at the menu?
What do the chairs look like?
What colour is the tablecloth?
How are the walls decorated?
Try to visualize and notice as many details as you can, then jot down a description of the all the details that you see.
At lunch the next day, look around and take note of things that match what you saw in your mind’s eye the night before.
You can also have fun pre-visualizing such things as which teller will serve you at your bank, who you might meet at the grocery store and who is calling you on the phone (before answering and, no peeking at call display!)
Come up with your own fun ways to experiment with your psychic abilities. And don't forget to keep track of your results and progress in your journal.
So there you go. Four super simple daily practices to keep your psychic medium muscles strong!
