Mediumship is an awesome thing. It is a beautiful blessing for those folks who choose to develop their mediumship gift and also for those who receive healing readings from good mediums.
Have you ever been to a public mediumship demonstration and witnessed the laughter, tears and deeply emotional responses from recipients in the audience who have had a good, healing reading from one of the mediums? It warms your heart.
That's what I'm talking about.
However mediumship is also a delicate and sometimes difficult thing to get a hold of, as it were.
Sometimes it's so many spirits coming in at once it gets hard to keep track of who's who and what's what.
Then there are those times when the information comes in so fast and all over the place that you feel out of control of your mediumship experience.
Alas, there are also those times when you just can't seem to get anything out of the spirits. You're waiting and waiting for grandma to throw you a bone and it just isn't coming...
The good news is that you can take more control of your mediumship, and receive more and better information from the spirits.
Yes. You can set the bar for what it is you want and need from the spirits. And get it.
How's that you say?
Remember the chef Emeril Lagasse?
How did he take control of his cooking?
Yup, that's right. BAM Works with mediumship, too.
Clare (you ask)... what's BAM?
BAM is three steps you take in the same order every single time you do a mediumship reading of any kind that allows you to take more control of your mediumship experience.
BAM puts you in the driver's seat.
Here's the three steps of BAM:
#1: B = the BASICS
First things first. Start with the basics. When you know you've got a spirit who wants to communicate, before you do anything else you need to get the identification BASICS from that spirit so you have some idea of who you're talking to.
What I mean here are the basic, entry level physical and characteristic identifiers such as...
... things like that.
One of my mediumship teachers referred to this getting the spirit's "name, rank and serial number."
For example, it's one thing to say your readee:
"I have an older man here... feels like he could be your grandfather."
And an entirely different thing to offer to your readee:
"I have an older gentleman here who had quite a thick head of white hair well into his old age. He was around 80 years old when he transitioned. He was a man of smaller stature and he had a really good sense of humor. He could be cheeky and lots of fun and he easily made people laugh."
The first example does not identify much at all. It's a vague description - an older man - and a guess on the part of the medium that he could be my grandfather.
Ummm... sure, he could be my grandfather but how would I KNOW? My grandfather was surely an older gentleman but aren't they all?
The second example gives me characteristics that my grandfather actually had. The medium has given me some of the basics of his personality and his physical attributes.
This fellow definitely feels like he's shaping up to be my grandad in spirit!
I'm getting pretty excited at this point.
We are clearly onto something good here but that is still not quite enough.
The information provided in the second example is a great start, and dispels a great deal of potential confusion, but I still need more to be sure.
I need to know that the medium is talking to my small, thick white haired, funny grandad, not just any grandad that fits the same description.
#2: A = Ask & Authenticate
The second step in BAM is to authenticate, for the sitter, (me in this example), who the spirit is.
How do you do this?
You ASK the spirit for authentic information.
Spirit communication is a two way street. You can ask the spirit for solid, specific pieces of evidential information. In fact you MUST do this. How is the spirit to know what you want and need if you don't ask?
Ask the spirit for something that will make it undeniably clear who he or she is.
Ask the spirit: "How will this person know you?"
Receive then relay the spirit's answer to your recipient.
The spirit might share a warm memory with you. And a favorite vacation spot. The spirit might tell you what he did for a living and what he liked to eat for breakfast on Sunday.
B (basics) + A (authentication) = OMG this is undoubtedly my grandfather!!
That's what you're shooting for.
Those pieces of information unique to the spirit that leave no room for doubt about who the spirit is. Specifics.
Continuing with my grandfather in spirit as the example this could be something like:
"This gentleman shows me his ankle, which looks injured or even broken. He looks to be an older man, in his sixties when this happened to him. He also shows me the Union Jack flag, a vintage airstream trailer and the number '76' ".
My grandfather was from England, loved to travel and at one point owned an awesome 1960's airstream upon which he proudly displayed a decal of the Union Jack. I traveled with him in that airstream during the summer of '76. And my grandfather broke his ankle playing soccer with me and my sister when he was 67 years old.
I now have no doubt that the medium has made a connection with my grandfather. No doubt whatsoever.
Now... the medium could continue to bring through more details, physical characteristics and other things that reaffirm this spirit as my grandfather. And that would be fine.
However spirits come through to their loved ones in the living because they have something more to say. They have a...
#3 M = Message:
It takes a great deal of effort on the part of a spirit to make contact with a medium.
The spirits don't do this lightly.
Spirits go to all the trouble it takes them to make contact for a reason. It's because they have something they want to say.
They have a message for the person they are coming to speak to.
A mediumship reading without a message is like an ice-cream sundae without whipped cream and a cherry on top.
It's like Fred Astaire without Ginger Rogers.
It's like a Marguerita without the reposado tequila...
Something important is missing.
I have seen mediums receive wonderful B (basic identifiers) and amazing A (authentication) that leaves no room for doubt as to who the spirit is, then end the reading right there. Over. Finito.
Don't do this.
Once you know that your sitter is absolutely certain they know who you have there with you in spirit it is time to ask the spirit for his or her message.
You can ask: What message do you have for your loved one?
Or: What is it you'd like your loved one to know?
And you don't need to ask this out loud. Simply ask the spirit telepathically for the message. Always ask telepathically.
Every spirit message is unique and wonderful.
Some are very down to earth and pretty regular. Like, for example, this message that I brought through from a mom in spirit to her daughter:
"Honey, I love that you are painting your kitchen but I really don't like the yellow you have chosen. Its too pale and boring. Go with green."
(BTW... the daughter laughed and then cried because she was so delighted to know that her mother in spirit was watching her paint her kitchen. She decided to stick with yellow though... :)
Some messages are very healing and help put to rest things left unsaid. Some clear up misunderstandings between the spirit and the loved one left behind. Some messages I've received from the spirit world have even revealed to the loved one where an important document or item was located.
Before you close the connection with the spirit make sure you ask for the Message.
So there you have it. The BAM technique.
B: Basics - get & share them
A: Ask & Authenticate - specific evidence
M: Message - get one!
BAM helps you make a good, strong link with the spirit world.
BAM makes it clear to the spirits what you need from them to communicate successfully.
BAM takes your mediumship from chaos to crystal clear.
Bring the BAM technique into your mediumship and dramatically improve the quality of your readings.
