Building Focus for Claircognizance The gift of Psychic Knowing
Mediumship requires a highly developed ability to concentrate and focus.
Therefore one of the most important aspects in the development of spirit communication or mediumship is to cultivate of your power of concentration and your ability to focus.
There are a number of ways that you can practice improving your concentration, the simplest of which is to create a mental point of focus, in your mind’s eye (clairvoyance) (or ear (clairaudience), feeling (clairsentinence) or thought (claircognizance) ) upon which you fix all of your attention. Then place all your focus on that point. If you find yourself drifting away from your focal point, bring it back to the image, sound, feeling or thought you have chosen. Keep doing this for 90 seconds to a couple of minutes.
Here is an exercise to help you develop your claircognizant (psychic knowing) focus. It is very easy to do and can be practiced in the quiet of your spirit / meditation space.
And… you don’t need to meditate prior to doing this particular practice exercises. It is actually preferable that you don’t.
This is because this exercise is meant only to help you increase your ability to focus on one thing very quickly, rather than raise your vibration, which is what meditation does. The more you do this focus exercise the easier it will get.
Focus Exercises: Building Focus for Claircognizance:
Fill a basket with pieces of paper on which you have written down different people, places, items or things such as: Christmas, pink, Charlie Chaplin, Egypt, cantaloupe, figs, “The Hokey Pokey”, Gregorian chant, hot water bottle, to name only a few examples.
I am just riffing with what comes immediately to my mind or is in my immediate environment at the present time. Just have fun and fill that basket.
Now randomly draw one of the pieces of paper from that basket.
Look at it.
Let’s pretend you drew Christmas.
Now fill yourself with everything that the concept of Christmas connotes for you.
Experience the totality of what Christmas indicates for you all in a single moment, allowing it to fill the corners of your mind, arouse memories, etc.
Don’t ‘see’ it, instead, ‘know’ it. Become Christmas completely.
Pull another piece of paper and practice this exercise all over again.
You can do a number of these in one sitting because the focus here is on instantaneously ‘knowing’ what it is that is written on the piece of paper. You need spend no more than 30 seconds on each piece of paper for this exercise.
Do this exercise two to three times a week when you are beginning your mediumship development.
Another great (and delicious!) way to randomly practice and develop your powers of concentration and focus is to bring your full awareness to the different taste configurations of the food that you are eating, isolating and focusing on sweet, salty, sour, bitter and umami.
Focus in on the different flavors present in your meal. Do this several times a week. Pick one of the flavors in your meal and when you are done eating re-create the experience of that flavor the same way you did for the visual and the felt experiences in the focus exercises for all of the other clairs.
