"Clare McNaul's songs captivate, drawing listeners in
from the very first word."
Clare McNaul Bio:
A musician for several decades, Clare's maxim 'God is in the details' is her poetic guide. Her timeless lyrics transform otherwise ordinary moments into narratives so extraordinary listeners are captivated from the very first word.
Clare's songs honour slices of life by turning them into elegant sources of inspiration and points of connection as they detail the joys, heartbreaks and idiosyncrasies of people and places she's observed throughout her life. As you listen you realize you've been there and you've felt that. Her songs become your songs as you see the poetry in your own life.
Often noted for her resonant vocal timbre, Clare found her singing voice as a child, spinning LPs on the family turntable and singing harmonies with Ann Murray, Judy Collins and Karen Carpenter.
Clare's passion for music ignited when her dad gave her a Yamaha guitar on her sixteenth birthday. She quickly learned how to play and navigated the Toronto 1970's folk music scene.
Life came to an interesting turning point in the late 90's when Clare met Blain Bovee, and musical sparks flew. They co-founded the six-member Brit Folk inspired band Crazy Man Michael and played events and festivals across Ontario. Today Clare performs both solo and alongside Blain as duo Drifting Tunes.
Adventures through Appalachia, and the desert Southwest (in an Econoline van named ‘Harles’) brought house concerts, playing with desert rats in local bands, Friday night gigs in dusty Saloons deep in the Mojave and leading Sunday worship at the local Baptist church. Clare discovered a beating heart of Mountain music, Roots, Gospel and Cowboy blues. These experiences broadened her musical horizons and continue to shape her songwriting today.
Emerging now onto the Edmonton music scene, Clare brings her soulful vocals, captivating lyrics and signature folk sound, creating a heartwarming and entertaining atmosphere that inspires and delights audiences.
